The first post is always the hardest. I’m still feeling out how I want to use this site. I have a lot of dreams. A LOT. So for now I’ll start with where the name of my site came from.
“Sweet dreams and Sara*, what more could any man dream of? Thank God for sweet dreams and Sara. Thank God for Sara. Thank God for love.”
It’s such a sweet song.
Mac Davis was a favorite of my Dad. He would play Sweet Dreams and Sara on the 8-track tape in my grandpa’s trailer as a lullaby when I couldn’t fall asleep (and I never could fall asleep easily!). It was a regular in the camping rotation. That, one of John Denver’s greatest hits albums and Kenny Rogers The Gambler. There was other good music on that album (I think it was called Burning Thing?) but for pretty obvious reasons that song I remember best.
My Dad has been gone for almost 8 years now. He surprised me a little over a year after he passed, on my birthday no less, by having my phone start playing “Sweet Dreams and Sara”. It wasn’t on Spotify where I listen to my music. Somehow my phone pulled up a YouTube video. I’d never searched for a YouTube video of that song before and I have no other explanation as to how that ended up playing on my phone except to say that my Papa was just dropping in to say “Hi!”
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him.
(*The “h” at the end for my website is mine. It was so hard to not add it every time!)
